Anatomy on Cadaver Classes - Terms and Conditions

It is agreed that by applying for a course place, you have read and agree to abide by all the terms and conditions as laid out below.

The opportunity to engage in such an incredible course in world class establishments comes with responsibilities and pressures that we take very seriously.

Our primary aim is to protect the donors and the donor families, as well as the institutions we work in.  The field of dissection and body donation is sensitive and we have no desire to fuel any prurient or inappropriate interest.

The class exists to enable you the therapist to better help your clients and patients. As guests of universities and medical schools it is important that they know and trust that we will behave respectfully and appropriately at all times.

If you wish to write about or share your experience, then you will be given guidance during the class as to how to do this, however we may ask to see what you write before anything is circulated.

I cannot emphasise enough that it is the kindness of the donors and their families who make this class possible.  We ask that you at all times keep this in your thoughts and generate a mind of respect and gratitude to those who have given the gift of their form at the end of their lives.

For more information on body donation and the regulations surrounding it within the UK, please visit. www.hta.gov.uk

Thank you for your understanding.

Please carefully read the following terms and conditions.

Attendance on any dissection class is conditional on acceptance of all of these.

  • Classes are provided by Functional Anatomy Ltd and open solely to Health Professionals and Allied Health Professionals working or studying in the field of physical therapy, movement therapy or a related field, who are  members of a professional association or body.

  • No cameras, mobile phones or any other visual recording equipment is allowed in the dissection room.  Anyone found with any such equipment will have this equipment confiscated, will be removed from the class immediately with no refund of fees. The use of such equipment may constitute a criminal offence, rendering the offender subject to prosecution.

  • All attendees will be required to undergo a registration process and submit a brief professional CV giving relevant qualifications, memberships of professional bodies or institutions and may be required to participate in an enrolment phone call, should this be requested or required by Functional Anatomy or the host institution.  You may also be asked to provide one professional reference.

  • All attendees will be required to complete and sign a legally binding, non-disclosure declaration, stating that you will not disclose any information to any third party regarding the location of the class being held, the staff of the institution, any details regarding the donor material or the specific nature of the class, unless specifically authorised to do so in writing by Julian Baker or any authorised agent of Functional Anatomy Ltd. This will be sent to you ahead of the class.

  • All attendees will be required to sign a waiver form stating that we are not responsible for any harm that befalls you in the dissecting room or for any harm that might befall you from any other attendee.  This does not affect your statutory rights. This will be sent to you once your place is confirmed and a deposit received.

  • All attendees agree to participate fully in the general maintenance, tidying and cleaning of the dissecting room, break out areas and any other areas designated for our use at the end of each day.

  • Any reports, articles, sketches, audio recordings or video recordings made at any time in relation to the content, attendance or other participants of the class whether in or out of the host institution, may only be published following approval in writing of the content, by Functional Anatomy, the host institution or any authorised agent of the aforementioned.

  • Donor material is preserved by embalming and various methods exist to do this.  By its nature it involves the use of harmful chemicals but which are not harmful via inhalation once they have been taken up by the process. Air quality is constantly measured and there is no danger to any participants from inhalation of residual embalming odours. However mild irritation of the eyes and mucous linings of the nose have been occasionally reported.  We advise the use of face masks and safety goggles at all times.  We cannot guarantee individuals that they will not be sensitive to the odours of the class and attendance on this basis is understood.

  • In the event of cancellation of any course for any reason and by any party, Functional Anatomy Ltd accepts no liability for any additional costs incurred in relation to travel, accommodation or other non specified expenses.

  • Acceptance of a place on a course is at the discretion of Functional Anatomy Ltd and the hosting university or facility.  All decisions are final.

  • This class is reasonably physically demanding but can be taken seated.  We aim to make all the classes as accessible as possible, but if you do have any access or health issues, please inform us of these in advance.

    Fees and Refunds

  • All fees for one and two day classes are non-refundable and non transferable, except in the case of cancellation by Functional Anatomy.

Don't just take our word for it...

"To 'see' the soft tissue we as therapists think we influence is a privilege. Julian Baker makes all the right connections between the 'tissue' and considerations for therapeutic intervention. Functional Anatomy is a must for all 'hands on' therapists. It is also a must for the 'hands off' body of therapists! Seeing is believing.."

"Captivating, often bizarre and incredible insights into the human body like you have never seen before. Always life changing sessions, questioning the “norm” as we are taught it and bringing new dimensions to your practise.

If you attend one of Julian's classes your working brain will be changed forever - for the better and you will only want to see more!! His humour is also legendary!!"

"I have just participated in the scar tissue dissection course. This is an incredible lesson in anatomy. Julian takes you on a journey thru a human body like you've never been before. It is amazing to see how a human body is really built, how strong, how resilient. Eye-opening and educating. Thank you.

I will be back for more."
