THE MONDAY WEBINAR SERIES:
Forward head posture - the new smoking?

This isn’t about scolding posture or taping people upright like bad furniture. Forward head posture is a load-management problem that when combined with a sedentary lifestyle, creates the potential for a wide variety of structural and systemic problems to arise.

In this webinar I examine how load is distributed through the spine and around tissues in the upper body and how compensations need to be in place to allow this position to be maintained.

I unpack some of the wider issues that come about from a forward head dynamic and discuss ways we can introduce practical methods of countering it.

This webinar aims to:

  • Reframe “forward head posture” as an adaptive strategy, not a defect.

  • Show how load is redistributed through the cervical fascia, rib cage, airway and nervous system.

  • Separate what looks abnormal from what behaves problematically.

  • Explain why things like a “chin tuck” so often fail—or make symptoms louder.

The objective is to look past angles and aesthetics and into why the head moves forward, what that changes in the neck, breath, vision, and nervous system—and why chasing “better posture” so often fails to reduce pain.

If you work with necks, shoulders, headaches, jaw tension or persistent upper-body symptoms, this reframes the problem in a way that actually guides practice.

Forward Head Posture

Not a fault but a strategy.
Understanding this is the step to

changing it

"To 'see' the soft tissue we as therapists think we influence is a privilege. Julian Baker makes all the right connections between the 'tissue' and considerations for therapeutic intervention. Functional Anatomy is a must for all 'hands on' therapists. It is also a must for the 'hands off' body of therapists! Seeing is believing.."

"Captivating, often bizarre and incredible insights into the human body like you have never seen before. Always life changing sessions, questioning the “norm” as we are taught it and bringing new dimensions to your practise.

If you attend one of Julian's classes your working brain will be changed forever - for the better and you will only want to see more!! His humour is also legendary!!"

"I have just participated in the scar tissue dissection course. This is an incredible lesson in anatomy. Julian takes you on a journey thru a human body like you've never been before.
